Hi,

Just a little about myself.

I am part of the babyboomer generation, living in Auckland NZ, born July the 3rd 1947 in New Plymouth, along with my twin brother Shade Smith. My childhood years were spent in Huntly, along with brother Shade and boyhood friends Jacques Koolen and Ross Hindman. Together the four of us went on to become the "popgroup" the Rumour.

My height: 5.11
My weight: Let's not go there!!!
Eyes: Hazel
Hobby:  Music
My greatest creation: 3 wonderful children:  Two girls and one boy

As stated above my twin brother is well known songwriter Shade Smith.  Together, Shade, myself, Jacques Koolen and Ross Hindman were members of  the pop band " The Rumour".

In 1971 we had a wonderful song feature on the televised nationwide songwriting contest called Studio 1. Wow!!!!  we won the competition.

Shade wrote the song and became New Zealand's top songwriter.  My part was to sing the song as lead vocalist and we all watched the song climb to Number one on the New Zealand charts and remain there for 6 weeks.....
As you can imagine 1971 was a good year.

The song was
"La Amour est L'enfant de la liberte"  or Love is the Child of Freedom and sold over 120,000 copies in New Zealand

The following year this was followed up by another hit song once again penned by Shade called "Holy Morning"

The Rumour disbanded in 1973 and I went on to radio announcing at 2ZA in Palmerston North, 1ZM and 1ZB in Auckland and on screen continuity announcing on TV2 in 1981-3

The next "big thing" was 15 years of video production which lead  to the Phoenix Hour Chat Show in 2001,
2002-04 Chat Show "Auckland at 9" was next,
2005 The community programme "In Touch"  all on Triangle Television our regional UHF Television service here in Auckland
